2012 3.0L water pump
Yep. Water pump seized and stranded me. Fortunately, we were sitting at the end of an exit ramp waiting for a traffic light when it died and not keeping up with the 85mph traffic. limped it to a Sams club parking lot.
No local shops could help until morning, and we really didn't want to sit in a hotel. fortunately, I had brought my tools. Talked The friendly folks at O'Reilly Auto Parts into delivering me a water pump and belt. 45 minutes later I have the pump and belt. 20 minutes after that, I have the old pump out and am installing the new one.
I will avoid buying the "Murray" brand pump and gasket if I ever get stuck again. No matter how I tried, I could NOT get the pump to seal and not leak like a sieve. 4 times I had it out, inspected everything, made sure no remaining gasket material, proper positioning, ect....
Finally got a ride to the auto parts store to get some sealant and back.
after 5+ hours of downtime, we were back on the road.
Is there a secret to those POS tin gaskets I'm missing???
