Who has an original style radio in their truck?

I have a 1964 f100 and I want to install a radio in it. But I don’t want to hack a giant square in the dash for a modern flashy head unit. instead I want to install a retro sound Huntington radio which is the same style radio that some models of the f100 came with originally. From my understanding the trucks that came with radios had three holes in the dash for the radio to mount to. So my question is, what are the measurements for these holes? Where exactly are they in the dash and how big are they? If somebody could send pictures and measurements of these holes that would be greatly appreciated.

above is a picture of my dash(no radio) and a picture I found online(with radio).

If and when you order the retro radio I am pretty sure it will come with a template for using incase the vehicle it is purchased for never had a radio. Here is a picture unfortunately I don't have measurements.

Center hole is for the display bulb. Next two over are for the tuning and volume shafts and the outside two are for the bezel mounting screws to go through
Notice the placement difference in my radio and the one you found online. These were dealer installed so essentially none were ever done the same. Mine was installed tilted to the right so when I restored mine I made it straigt. Also the speaker cut out in the dash was never the same dealer to dealer as that was cut also when installing a radio

1965 and 1966 trucks could be ordered with a radio from the factory. In that case the dash had the typical speaker slots for the sound to come through. Of course, if you got the padded dash they put holes in the pad and then put the outer grille over that with holes through the nice factory slots. If you can get close enough to see the slots in the dash of my truck. Some came like that.

I’m installing a stock radio in my truck on Saturday. I welded up a giant aftermarket radio hole last weekend.
I plan on using the radio mounting bracket for a template.

so none of the holes for the radio were ever stamped out from the factory?

my plan is to try to mount the radio as close to the factory location as possible. Although mine is a 64 it would be cool to get it in the same spot as the 65 and 66. Obviously I don’t have the place in the dash for the speaker so I plan on mounting speakers in the door access panels. If you could take pictures and get the measurements for the radio holes on the front of the dash. from yours that would be great.

I just installed the Retrosound last weekend. This drawing I found somewhere (probably here) was quite helpful. I go the ***** positioned in relation to the center hole before attempting to place the radio in the dash. Really sped up the process. The center hole is the dial light bulb on the original radio and the Retrosound passes a ribbon cable thru it to interface with the face/dial.

Aiden, my truck had a mess where the radio was supposed to be as someone before me installed an after market unit at some point. I cleaned up the hole situation and ordered a Huntington. I don’t have any measurements and I’m not sure if it came with a template, but using the faceplate as a guide it should be pretty easy to mark and drill out the three holes you will need. Here are some pics of everything installed. I put speakers in the door and tweeters in the dash. Always glad to help if you have any questions.

Wow, Vandy23 - you've got quite a large gap between your steering wheel and the column bowl. Horn working OK? I think the spec for that is 1/8" or 1/16" gap, I'd have to look that up again. You can adjust that if you wanted to.
