The press is full of excited, over the top stories about 2021 Chevy pickups getting the "Multiflex" tailgate, which prior to 2021, was only available on GMC trucks.
The excitement is worthy of a 8 year old schoolgirl. I can almost hear the high pitched squeals over on the Chevy boards.
When I leased my 2020 GMC 2500, I did not even know it came with the "MultiPro" tailgate.
More proof that all these trucks are so good, that the only way to differentiate is colors, wheels, or trick features like a tailgate.
wait until you try to use the "new and improved" "man gate" with a trailer hitch on and put a giant dent in your $6000 tailgate that now prevents it from closing.

I didn't order it. I don't need it. It was on the truck. What was I to do, tell them to take it off?
The guy I work for got a new GMC 2500 yesterday, fully loaded up. It's a really nice truck, and the rear seat leg room is huge. I was quite impressed with the tailgate on his truck. First time I had seen one work. As high as his truck sits off the ground, about the only way to get in the bed is with the step gate, or stand next to the tailgate and roll yourself in.
His factory tires are about as big around as over the road trucks. This truck sits up quite a bit higher than the 2014 GMC 2500 the new truck replaced.

There are steps built into the corners of the rear bumpers.
But yes, the truck sits very high. Help getting into the bed is welcomed.
The only issue I ever had with the "Man Step" when it first came out...the step is a manly step...pretty high...especially for old timers. Better than not having it though.

For $400 or so, Ford can keep the Man Step. I would never order it on my truck at that price.
Go to Home Depot. For <$20, you can buy a nice step stool. Best part is that you keep the stool when you sell the truck.
