I've been working on my 68 f250 and sanded the tailgate and shot it with epoxy primer. I then taped around the F O R D lettering on the tailgate and shot it with a different color. The mistake(s) I made was using painters tape (the blue one) to mask off around the letting because it allowed painted for the letters to run underneath the tape. Needless to say it looked really bad when I pulled the tape off. But I think for now, I will paint it all the same color (epoxy primer white). I'm wanting to buy decals for the lettering for now until I can paint her. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to buy the decal lettering? Appreciate any help with this.
Thanks.
If not and they don't have any recommendations, then visit a local sign shop...most do vinyl lettering and should be able to easily duplicate.
When I checked with a local shop they were talking close to $200 for my 81 flare side and they could not take me in for weeks and that was a good thing.
I was looking for white reflective letters and found them on Ebay with a search and think they were $50 shipped.
BTW I was looking to paint them on like the factory did they used a rubber roller and told we can use 1 shot pin stripping paint.

I used a 1' foam roller I ran across in a hardware store. That and a light touch so not to squeeze the paint. Removed incorrect tailgate and replaced with the correct tailgate but in blue which was stripped and repainted in the correct wimbledon white/holly green. Tried a 1' hard roller and that didn't work since the surface must be absolutely flat.
I did look into painting mine back on but I did not want to take the gate back off, need to undo a hinge on the flare sides.
The real reason I did not want to mess up the fresh paint and the need to maybe have to repaint the gate.
I like the letters I did because I drive a lot when dark to work (12am to 3am) and sometimes when coming home so for the letters to show up and the 2 tail & plate lights helps others see me.
