My engine may be deciding to take a crap on me before I can save up for my 393 stroker so here's my new plan for now.
A remanufactured 69-76 351W with an Edelbrock Performer package which includes a performer 4bbl manafold and a matching carb.
A cam with Adv. Duration: 271/280 Duration @ .050" .204/214
Gross lift: .280"/.295" Lobe Seps: 112
The kit also comes with new lifters. Then I will throw on a set of summit performance long tube headers with 3" collectors.
The engine is going in a 1967 F100 custom cab that currently has a 78 351W and a C4 auto tranny.
What does everyone think of this setup? do you think I'll feel much of a performance increase with this setup?
Are you referring to the edelbrock performer cam? The specs are identical only odd thing to me is your listed gross lift. It will make a difference an sounds like a good plan. Here comes a thought, those heads should you go with the 69-75 reman motor will flow better than the newer crap so if you have the extra funds you might consider having them angle milled sllghtly or going with higher compression pistons. You might consider giving comp cam a call or crane because as I mentioned before those heads are a little better and I think you could pull a few more hp and tq out of them if you go with a more aggressive cam such as a comp. And milling them or higher comp pistons will make an improvement in the throttle response and over all performance. Whatever you decide you have a solid plan. Just a thought. Think about bumping the compression and and highly recommend the comp or crane cam. Later, and good luck
