Unhappy 2006 Expedition is continuelly blowing the Ignition Pack on Cylinder 1.

I have a 2006 Expedition 5.4 XLT. I have replaced the #1 Ignition Pack 3 times in 3 months. I am stumped and can't find anything that might be causing this.

How's the gap on the sparkplug ? Or try a different sparkplug altogether. What brand coil are you using ?

I am using Motorcraft Platinum plugs. No gap to set. I have replaced it 3 times as well. All new. I will post the brand coil in the morning.

Sorry it took me a little longer than this morning. The Coil pack that I am using is from MasterPro Ignitions.

Well, you can always go back to Motorcraft and try one out. Are they ALL this MasterPro brand, and only this one cylinder is having this issue ?

I guess it depends on what "blowing" the coil actually means. A simple failure, a catastrophic meltdown or blowout or what? Any fault codes?

If it's a catastrophic failure, more likely than not, you have an intermittent fault that is causing a short circuit to ground on the trigger circuit for the #1 COP. That could be a chafed or melted wire or could be a fault inside the PCM.

It means they have all had a catastrophic failure. They no longer provide a spark.

The spark plug boot is built in and can't be removed.

Have you verified the spark plug gap to make sure it is correct? An incorrect gap could be straining the coil.

As I stated above, I am using Platinum plugs, which don't have an adjustable gap. I have replaced them each time as well, just to make sure.
