Spool gun on a mig pal 140?
I’ve been welding for several years with my lincoln 110v welder, and miller 220v stick welder. Thinking about a project that requires quite a bit of aluminum welding. Aluminum welding would be a first for me, I’m wondering if someone experienced could tell me if I’d be ok with a spool gun on a 110v mig, or if that’s best left to the 220v welders? Any insight appreciated.
The aluminum needing to be welded would be 3/16 and some 1/4”.

that was my assumption until I started googling spool guns

With aluminum, you need 1 amp per 0.001 material thickness. So with only 140amp max, you will be limited to 1/8 for a single pass. Im not even sure that machine can handle max output long enough to make good welds or multiple pass welds.
I will admit however, that most of my aluminum experience is with a 3 phase Lincoln 375 TIG.
