From my measurements, it seems like some of the popular v-belt accessory bracket systems hang low and are about 25" wide which doesn't provide much clearance when the frame and inner wheel wells only have about 27" in width
Length measurements seem to indicate about 33" to play with. The shortest 5.0 configuration I have ever accomplised is 29-30" with the shorty water pump.
So has anyone run into width wise fitment issues with clockwise v-belt alternator and PS pump setups from CVF or March?
Do swappers generally use the "shorty" style water pump or are OEM style water pumps with "normal" hub heights typically good enough when using aluminum rad and electric fan?
I am running the factory serpentine system off of a 92 f250 with a 351w and using a mechanical fan and the 92 rad . Your engine placement will have a big bearing on room and make sure you are placing the rad in the 6 cyl position .
Thanks Ebear!
I will be pulling the old motor and mocking up the new one (347 stroker) over the next few weeks. So I will hold off on buying a water pump and accessories until I settle on a location. I am using a TKO500 trans so that might change things up slightly.
I always use CVF v-belt set-up on my 302's with mechanical fuel pump with their alternator--water pump ( correct rotation for V-belt )- Sandersen 508 AC compressor--Saginaw PS pump-- 4 row Aluminum radiator with matching shroud- with Spall electric fan---Block coated Hugger headers-- Lots of room all away around

is that a front sump oil pan? And what AC kit or is it a kit
NO must use rear oil sump pan with Mustang II front suspension-- the parts I always use is from CVF racing-- great people and quality
The heads are 5/8" away from firewall and I use street rod Ford weld in motor mounts with rubber biscuits -- use electric fan and shroud combination VS mechanical fan then got to make fan shroud that does not give you a nice clean look
Hey Mike,
I'll put in a vote for using the shorty waterpump. It all depends on where
you decide to mount your engine/trans. Our set up is a 351W with an AOD. It all fit but it's tight
up front. We went with a MarkVIII electric fan set up as we were having trouble keeping it cool in Texas.
You need all the room you can get for a big 5 inch deep electric fan. I'd mock your's up & see what it looks like.
One vote for more room up front for you electric fan & belt set up.
