I am new here and seeking help! I am in the process of building a 1956 F100 Big Window and I am looking for the Hood Support that runs across the back of the hood that you connect the shoulder bolts onto. The hood has been modified to have a 3 " rake and it does not have the back support bar.
Does anyone know of a company that makes hoods that might sell just that part or anyone with an old hood in poor condition that does not need the support any longer?
I have attached a photo of the hood support highlighted.
I am in San Diego now...I do have a hood that should have the cross support you need. Not sure when I will get out to the storage barn to check but when I do I will let you know.
I thought to contact you but figured I would post here to see if there was one near Texas. Sounds like Old Porter kept the ranch after I left. Good to hear.
Let me know if you can help as I may be in San Diego to move my mother as soon as next month.
Good to hear from you Luke, I wondered where you ended up. Porter is still in Campo, not as active as he used to be but still has the "ranch".
I have a hood that has been sandblasted. Skin has some pinholes from rusting through but the underside is in good shape. I'll break it down when I get out there sometime next week.
Here is what the barn looks like today, the 56s haven't been getting much attention lately...
I am glad to hear he still holds the ranch making for cheap storage. I always tell stories of all the crazy tattoos on his face. I am working to complete my 56 now. I had to redo everything that Clown I took it to in El Cajon ruined.
I purchased the Ringbrother Hood Hinges so I can still open the hood the traditional way however he cut the support out and threw it away. It is pretty hard to make a hood work without the hinge connection and support.
After a ton of hassle trying to place my Hydroboost under the cab to match what you did. I gave in and just used a GM pedal and mounted it through the firewall.
I have also made friends with a laser cutter here in town so I can get tabs and sheet metal custom cut locally which is helpful.
