Window crankl spring question

Finally back after a few years to installing my refurbished door panels. I need to secure the window crank springs that push the door panel outward towards the crank while I install the door panel. How were they held in place originally?

Were these only present on un-trimmed panels?
Mine doesn't have them but if I recall correctly from other vehicles it was something similar to Duct Seal or rope caulk. Although I'd say anything (rtv, old chewing gum?) that holds it in place would work.

Thanks, I'll try some duct seal tape. My panels have chrome trim and there is a 1/4" gap beteween panel and crank.

mine the spring just sits against the door panel and the door itself to keep the door panel fitted tight against the window crank. Make sure you have the plastic window crank washer otherwise your window crank handle will gouge into your door panel over time.

Honestly I'd buy new cause used ones are usually worn out like mine were. I got mine from Dennis-Carpenter when o ordered the reproduction door panels from him. You can also get them from NPD and LMC
