Not from personal experience but most times I have heard that the tank is left in place just in case the truck is traded in or sold and you have to put all that stuff back on the tank is there. Not sure what benefit it is to remove it as long as its drained and plugged.
I pulled mine, four bolts I believe. And fished out the plumbing to tidy it up. I also pulled the EGR cooler, and sold if for a few hundred CAD. Not that there is any benefit to losing the weight, but why keep it there if it isn’t for any use. If resale is a concern, keep it on a shelf.
