Hard Braking - Whistle sound?
This is the 2nd time this has happened to me...someone cut me off and I got on the brakes -hard-, and a lower tone 'whistle' seemed to come from the dash area. Any idea what it could be? The truck stopped OK (maybe a little more brake force than I would have hoped to get it stopped, but it stopped with room to spare)...but I've only ever heard that sound once before, and it was under the same conditions.

Could be your brake booster diaphragm has a tear, or just normal air movement sound. If it only makes one quick sound as you're pressing the pedal downward, possibly normal. If it whistles while you're holding the pedal it's probably got a torn diaphragm. Try it with the engine running and the truck sitting still.
