Rare Ford "Jeep" hitting the block

Everyone knows about ****** and how the Jeep was born out of WW2 — but did you know Ford built a "Jeep" too? One of them is hitting the block, and it looks awesome. At 60hp, I think it's way more powerful than the Jeeps of the era too. Check out all the details here!

Gpw = government contract, 80" wheelbase, ****** pattern. The engine was a ****** design, but to keep up with demand, ford manufactured some. Same specs as the ****** for parts interchange. These jeeps aren't particularly rare or different, other than the flying f on ford made parts

Oh, that's cool to know. I know I've seen this one floating around, but I've never seen one in person. Thanks!

Ford assembled more Jeeps during WWII than ******-Overland.

American Bantam won the US military design contest, but didn't assemble more than a handful. They did build some of the Jeep Utility trailers, but that was it...then they 'folded the tent.'

The ****** "Go Devil" flathead 4 cylinder dated back to the 1927 Whippet.

The light aircraft carrier USS Saipan (CVL 48) was commissioned 14 June 1946, stricken 15 August (V-J Day) 1975.

Granpa bought this in 69. We got it from my uncle in mid 80's i really learned to drive in it. I got it from my mom in 97 amd drove it from Colorado to utah. This pic is in 98 right after i painted it. Just rebuilt the engine over the winter. 45 ford gpw. Yes darn near everything they could stamp got the "f" script either stamped or cast into it. Even the shims (thicker ones) in the rear output asssembly of the dana 18 transfer case got f stamped. The bearing shims in the rear axle were
also stamped. As well as the Ubolts.
Ford gpw crankshafts were one piece where ****** had bolt on counterweights.
