Not a ford owner yet, but looking to become. Looking for some advise from some owner
Like the title states, not a Ford owner yet. However I am in the market for a new 18 or used 17 expedition with the 3.73 package.
I have a 6500lb dry travel trailer and when loaded it's up to 7900 with about 900 tounge. And would be going on 3500 to 4000 mile trips once a year and 450 mile trips several times a year. Yes mountains are expected on all of these trips.
we tested the tahoe, Yukon and liked the expedition the best but only tested with a 3.15 rear.
my question is how does the 6 speed handle the weight towing? And or would it be better to pursue the 18 with a 10speed? I want to have plenty of surplus towing and payload capacities so i dont tax the vehicle during the entire road trips. I've watched the tfl YouTube on the 18 and the one gauntlet and looks awesome but having a hard time finding reviews on the 17 with the 6 speed.
thanks in advance.
andrew.
