I found a 239cid engine and a 4 speed transmission that's out of a 55 F-350, that I would very much like to put in my 55 F-100. It's a 4SYN transmission, according to the plate on the inside of the glove box. Does anybody have any nice clear pics of the shifter boot (because I'll be needing one)? Carpenter carries a boot that's labeled for up to 1952... anyone know of a place that sells boots for 53 and up?
Thanks in advance..
On my 56 I used the 49-52 boot on my 56 F100. it looks like it belongs there.
Carpenters part number is 99A-7242-B "Green Bible" applications: 1939 Ford Passenger Cars (ditto Merc's, because 99A is the 1939 Mercury part number prefix).
Carpenter lists this for 1932/52 trucks, but it's not listed in the Green Bible or in the 1948/56 truck parts catalog for these applications, so it's probably "a will fit."
Green Bible: 1928/47 Ford Truck & 1928/48 Ford Passenger Car Chassis Parts Catalog. Green refers to the colors of the front and back covers of this bound paper catalog.
