No 12 volt charging power in 7 way trailer connector
Anyone try to test there 7 way plug with 5th wheel prep package? All pins check good power, except 12 volts charging pin (trailer charge). That’s checking at 5th wheel receptacle in box and rear bumper receptacle. No power from 12 volt pin.
Manual says a trailer has to be connected to truck and then touch the brakes to activate 12 volts power at 7 way receptacle. Anyone else try and check the 12 volt power?

I'm following this thread to see what happens , I was at the rv dealer and was told my truck wouldn't charge , then the ford dealer tested it and told me there is a change in these new trucks that would not charge unless plugged in to the trailer . So all this is now comming back to me I was left thinking about it because it didn't seem right that the tester at the dealer couldn't read charge, however I do understand that today's technology is getting more and more "smart" and we are getting more and more ...well.. .. I would like one of the upfitter switches that aren't Realy doing anything be able to manually charge the rig would be nice . But I guess this truck is smarter than I, so I don't have to do that just let the truck do it for me.
I Am going to plug in the trailer turn on the truck tap the breaks and check the battery status on my trailer see if it lights all four red lights like when I'm changing on 50 amp power .I'll report back what i get and check back this thread thanks to the op for bringing this up.

Dont surprise me that your RV dealer didnt know, I was the one who showed my RV dealer how it worked and he verified with his test box. If your truck has the factory brake controller, you dont need to do anything, it doesnt need the fuses under the hood, it will work all on its own once it detects the trailer which will require it be plugged in and you tap the brake, turn on lights or whatever.

I had the same question early last year.
Mine worked fine after hook and applying brakes.
I just used a volt meter on the trailer batteries. 12v unhooked and after plugging in, starting and applying brakes it tested almost 14v so I knew the charge circuit was working
