Welcome to FTE If the truck was built in the United States the serial number can be found in 3 locations. The main location is on the passenger side frame rail between the radiator and the front axle. (Note - some very early 1948 trucks were stamped on the drivers side near the steering box) The truck would have also had a 'Rating plate' located on the inside of the glove box door as well as a 'patent data plate' located on the passenger side firewall. In addition there will be a combination of numbers and letters stamped into the upper firewall / cowl area.
The serial number will begin with 8 (if it's a 1948 or 9 if it's a 1949 or 1950) the next two digits will indicate the engine (7H - 6 cylinder or 8R - V8) followed by the model designation (C - F1, D-F2, Y - F3 etc.). The Patent plate will show the serial number and the assembly plant code. The cowl stampings will indicate the color, assembly plant and the build date.

Please post some pictures of your truck.
