Front Fuel Tank Not Reading Correctly Anymore Please Help
I've got a 95 F250 with the 7.3 powerstroke and the other day I pulled up to the pump to get some fuel and I put about $20 which is usually over a half tank for the front. it wouldn't read over a quarter tank and the whole time it was dipping back down to empty. I was going to pick up a 78 Bronco for my buddy so I didn't have time to mess with it. After we got it back I went and filled the rest of the tank up hoping it would fix itself but obviously that didn't work. My rear tank is still reading correctly though and the switch still works.
Is there a float in the diesel tanks that might have filled up with fuel or something? I know the older sending units for my highboy had I think a brass float that sometimes would get pinholes in them but I've never dropped a obs tank. I was hoping not to have to drop the tank but it looks like that's inevitable.
Mine does it too but my pump is new and the float is old. It works intermittently. Sometimes it reads proper sometimes it reads empty. I just deal with it.
