I've had this 2012 for several months now but have never really romped on the throttle until yesterday's road trip (not a lead foot driver).
I was driving on the highway at about 55 when I needed to pass so I floored the throttle and - the truck bucked like a wild horse and the power dropped to a low acceleration. Once I backed off the throttle to about half-way the engine took off like "normal".
These symptoms were repeatable throughout my entire 500 mile trip. Is this a known issue with the EB?
The service that I had performed replaced the plugs and boots with motorcraft plugs gapped to .030. I had it done at ford for 450. It fixed the problem for me. When I had it done they also cleaned the fuel system and did a software update.

72k is a lot on original eco plugs.
Mine lasted for 61K miles and then I experienced the exact same symptoms. Romped on it, it misfired, CEL flashed for a few seconds, I let off the gas and it took right off. As long as I wasn't demanding a ton of power it was running perfectly. Once I nailed, it acted like it was going to shut down. Replaced plugs and boots and problem solved.
Be wary though, the original diagnosis on mine was a random misfire but when I got the service report back, it showed as the #2 plug was the main culprit. 7000 miles later and I experienced the same exact misfire again, CEL flashing, etc. I took it back tot he dealer and the #2 COP was failing. So, that was a portion of the original problem. I negotiated the dealership's failure to properly diagnose the issue and got them to reduce the bill significantly for COP change. They verified the COP failure by swapping out COP's from other cylinders.
This isn't a horrible issue and it's an easy repair. The EB are inherently tough on plugs.

Thoughts?
CMOS
My eco-boost had the exact same symptoms At around 52,000 miles. CEL light never came on. $60 worth of plugs, some anti-seize lube, and an hour and a half in the basement had it running as good as new again.

Nice. I should receive my parts later this afternoon, and will do the install after church tomorrow.
Can anyone give me a technical explanation of what causes this issue? Is the problem the plugs themselves, or the boot dielectric breaking down causing a spark short to the head???
