The only reference I have shows 41A for Fords 38-42 & 45
'T' is the truck designation for heads. By inference I'd say its a 38-42 truck engine, heads at least.

Looking at a table in "Ford Flathead V8 builders Handbook", from '36 to '53 (except '49) it seems like the first digit on the "model" stands for the year (ex. 11A= '41, 21A= '42). From '38-'48 the second number seems to stand for the size (ex. 21A= 221ci, 69A=239ci) The book only has A's and then the Merc's have M's from '46 on.

yeah i figured that the first number was the year.. like my 59-ab was for my 45 ford. i just cant figure this 41T... from stuff u guys have given me.. we can assume that its a 1944 truck engine, but it still doesnt make sense... unless it is just one of those odd ones from 42-45 that "didnt exist" I found my v-8 hand book and i cant see that it lists my original 59-ab and it doesnt list any T's just A's and M's, SO im still confused.

ahha.. heres this.... i forgot i had seen this on a website, but this still doesnt explain how a truck engine was fit into a deluxe... "41T" heads were for 85/90hp trucks; and "29A" or "29T" for Mercury in 1942.
so it must be a '42 which defeats the whole year thing as the first number...
Heres more from that site..
Original cylinder heads for 1938 to 1942 were generally marked with "81A" for Ford or Mercury engines thru 1941; "81T" for truck engines thru 1942; "41T" heads were for 85/90hp trucks; and "29A" or "29T" for Mercury in 1942. Heads marked "59-A" or "59AB" were used on all 90/100 hp (Ford & Mercury) engines from 1946 through 1948. The 59AB heads were sometimes used on earlier blocks in replacement rebuilds.

Ford was notorious back in the middle 30's and early 40's for building flats designated for commercial use and finding their way into a passenger vehicle. You really can't put any solid faith in determining what the engine came out of by the numbers.
