Really glad i found this site and a big thanks to NumberDummy for the Decoding help. So last week i bought a 1976 Ford LN750 it had a Grain-o-vator on it and the dealer priced me just the truck and i jumped at the chance. Been searching for a good Med-Hvy duty truck to take the load off my daily driver. His son also does sandblasting and painting so while it was there I just let them go to work on it but, the wait is killing me. I was second in line he quoted me a day to do the whole job. But the other job is taking longer of course lol. So my plans for the truck is I ordered rear wheel fender covers and brackets i'm gonna put diamond plate down the top of the frame all the way back. Gonna buy a Semi gooseneck hitch and bolt that on and wire up all new lights. Really excited to get it home and tear into it will post updates as i progress.
Before we removed the bed
gotta bend the bumper back straight and might paint it.
Gonna paint the rim's two tone black and white.
The frame is gonna be gloss black with diamond plate top cover and a goose-neck hitch.
Gonna repaint the white with a fresh coat and paint the red Ford Blue like my 1972 Ford 8000 Tractor.
Well the frame, front and rear rims are painted and i hauled her home this week. Mounted my rear wheel fenders and cleaned the inside of the cab. Found the original build sheet and the original owners manual warranty info and Vin plate card. Turns out I'm only the second owner belonged to a seed store in Wabash Indiana since new. Here's a quick couple of update photos so far. enjoy!!
Thanks roKWiz It's been more trouble to get back on the road then i had for seen. Mice had eating a lot of unseen wires through out the truck. But i finally got all the lights rewired, horn working etc. to get it ready for inspection. Hope to get it inspected next week. Does any one know the horsepower and torque the 361 4v made. I have sandblasted the intake and valve covers and painted them High temp ford blue and want to put decals back on the breather. Still gotta fix the bumper, i did order a new wiper motor and put a rear view mirror on i believe I'm good for the insp. I could have sold this old truck a dozen times over for a good profit people drive by and turn around and offer me a good price but, i can't let her go just yet lol heres the latest pic though
Finally put the two together this will be the trailer it hauls till i can buy a bigger one next year. I found a hitch local for a lot cheaper off another semi so just gotta buy it from the person when he takes it off. Still dealing with the wiper issues. Turns out my motor was good just have a bad switch. So i gotta wire a new pair of toggle switches up some how. I did drive it down the road about a mile or so drove about like i thought it would bumpy and stiff but it has some great power and brakes for sure haha lol Also threw in a pic of what it will be hauling my 1972 Ford 8000 and Ford 142 Plow I restored the Plow this year hope to do the truck and Tractor this winter all will be painted Ford Blue and White.
