so i'd like some input from you guys, maybe even some of you have or have used one of these brands before and can comment on them.

also before i start, does anyone know what size the stock 04 lariat steps are? like i see aftermarket steps, some are 3", 4" etc. the stockers look to be 3 maybe 4"? thinking of going with the larger, maybe even 5 or 6", aftermarket steps, just to have more surface area to step onto. only reason for changing is because i want the wheel-to-wheel steps that offer a step extended past the cab to step into my dually bed. i like the style of my stock lariat steps, and i'm glad there's a handful of companies that make the W2W steps that look nearly identical to my stock steps!

those are all the ones that are similar to my stock ones, and are offered in W2W for a CCLB dually. anyone got any real pics (hard to tell from the factory photos on the product page) of any 3, 4, 5, 6" tube style steps? the 6" would give me a ton of room to step on, but not sure that i need to spend the extra money just for the larger steps. if the stockers are 3", i'm fine with those, it's just the bigger ones would be nice to have.

what are you taking in and out of the bed ?
i try to never take anything out the side so i don't risk scratching the bed

 

nothing big/heavy that would have to drag on the bed as i removed it or put it in the bed, sometimes just small things, i always keep my gate locked, so if it's a few bags or something and i set them right over the bed side, having a step would be nice. on a stock, SRW truck i never had an issue, but the dually fender sticks out far, as well as my 35" tires made it higher, and at 5'9" with chronic neck/back pain, a step would greatly help me out lol.

oh yea, this truck is a semi daily driver, but i also haul with it and stuff, so i bought this with the intentions of keeping it for the long term, but not worrying about getting a little scratch here and there, as the paint was already not the best when i bought it. if it was a brand new truck i wouldn't even want to put anything in the bed period. but since i bought this with the full intentions of it to be used as an actual truck, i don't mind the occasional scratch. now in a few years i hope to be able to afford a newer smaller SD 6.7L just for a nice clean daily driver, SRW, something smaller and easier to drive/turn/park, than my CCLB dually.

Those are nice! Looks like they bolt to the bed somehow at the end too rather than just hang past the cab like some do?

 

I'm not sure if they do or not. They are good and solid though. The set I had on my previous SD had a little flex when I put my 200+ on them. I would go look, but sadly it's at the Ford garage waiting for the engine to be torn down. One cylinder with no compression...just hate it when that happens. :-(

 

from what i can see in the 2 pics in your thread, it looks like there is something right behind the step, like a mounting bracket or something.

i did call ICI about those first 3" steps i posted, and they said there is a bracket that mounts the extended part of the step to the bed/frame/something. i was curious because a guy posted a review about those ICI 3" steps and said there wasn't on his truck, so when he stepped on it with any weight in his hand on top of that, it seemed flimsy. but it wasn't a SD, it was a chevy or dodge, can't remember.

either way, i only weigh in at a solid 150lbs soaking wet...LOL...so probably not an issue for me if they don't haha
