Expeditionary Rigs (Not Expeditions)

Who out there has their Super Duty fixed up as an expeditionary rig?

Throughout my life, I've often taken weekend duck hunting/ trout fishing/ canoeing/ trail riding/ whatever.

I've been thinking about a excursion or suburban or something of the sort that I could make a pallet in the back, throw decoys on the roof, or my canoe, or some fishing rods. My current thought is to put a camper shell on one of my trucks, a Yakima roof rack, LEDs, carpeted interior.

I'd like to see pics and ideas for a truck set up like this. What have y'all got?

I am in the process of converting my F-350 to be more offroad capable and be able to go into the backcountry camping, fishing etc. our goals include going on an extended trip to Alaska, Baja and Nova Scotia to name a few.

We recently bought a Hallmark pop up truck camper (Hallmark RV | The Best Pop-Up Truck Camper) and am very happy with how the truck handles it. Next we want to give it a slight (2-3") lift and slightly more aggressive shoes.

Here's a picture of the current set up..

The cheapest "used" earth roamer model at $400,000. WOW. For that price there's almost no limit to what I could buy. A cabin on the Smith River in Montana and a brand new F-250 to travel between.

I'm out

But sml has the right idea. Id love to see some more pictures of that. Especially once lifted

Love the idea. Haven't done anything personally to make the change. Maybe one day.

I've looked at picking up an M101 or similar trailer, and making it a trail ready rig that could stay loaded. I see all these people doing overland expeditions with Lexus GS and newer Land Cruisers, why not a 250/350.

The biggest drawback I think is the length. There are lots of parts out there, but some will need to be customized. You could look at a camper shell, and put a MOAB on top. With all the bed storage options now, you could get one of the drawer systems.

I don't have the time to enjoy a rig like that right now. I can just load up my totes of camping gear and go when I get that opportunity at this point. A trailer is the one route I might go. And if I did, I would build a custom rollbar set up for either a basket or a off the ground tent.

Right, we go to the lake often and a camper is no doubt in my future, that could stay loaded and eliminate most of my loading and unloading of camping totes. But I take and want to take more trips into the Ouachitas and Ozarks on weekends, and I'm thinking something along these lines would eliminate the need to jack with a tent and make it easier to basically sleep anywhere.

^^^ this is why we got this pop up camper. It literally takes me 1 minute to undo the clamps on the outside and take my cordless screw gun and raise the top.

Bella, that looks really good! Where did you get the flip camper top? Can you post pictures of it?
