New member introduction

My name is Jim, my Grandson is Austin. I am the mouth piece since Austin was born deaf and mildly autistic. Austin has bought a 1952 F1. He wanted a 52 because that was the year his Mamaw was born!. He wants to go to car shows with his truck. We have a ways to go! We found a good solid old truck that was already partially disassembled. All the parts appear to be there and usable. It appears the old truck has been revived at least once. She needs to be revived again! That is where my friend Frank and I come in. We will do our best this year to help and instruct Austin with this project.
We pulled it in the garage December 26, 2015 placed it in position ,jacked it up, removed tires and wheels and placed on jack stands.
To date we have pulled the rear end, disassembled the springs, cleaned one of them and have it in primer. We are using Tractor Supply grey sandable primer. Austin is sandblasting some of the smaller parts in a cabinet.
Just wanted to introduce ourselves to the forum. I am sure we will need some answers as this project progresses and we want to share our experiences for others to evaluate. I will attach some pictures soon.

As you can see someone started. They were making it a driver. The quality of work not that great. Engine painted wrong color. firewall needs a little repair before repaint. The cab is pretty solid. We need to take the putty out to see what we have. Front fender have some rust, however not that bad. Running boards great shape, rear fenders pretty good. We have got a pretty good inventory of rubber as we will replace all rubber components. We have got the rear springs all cleaned and primered. The rear axle housing is 95% cleaned.
Nasty job removing rust and scale!

Got to do it one piece at a time! Going to cost a lot of dimes!
Paid 4K spent 1700 in parts and paint and rust removal brushes.
I hoping we can bring in in for 8K. Austin wants it to be all original so that is how we are going to do it. I wanted to build it on a 4x4 blazer. It is his tuck so will do it his way. I am having a hard time getting excited about 3 on the tree and a 4.27 ratio. It is what it is!

Hoping to get her finished in 2016. I am guessing 2000 hrs to complete. Is this realistic?
Having trouble attaching pics I'll figure it out

This is what is known as A Project. Father and son deal? Hope so, those are cool... I am guessing Jim is the father and Austin is the kid.

I have known people who can spend 5+ years on something like that, and giving time estimates of how long it will take YOU is really hard.

You're aware of the 1948-56 subforum here, right? If not, you are now! A guy named Morris is the mod over there.
