I used a 12" Lokar in my panel but it's raised higher because of the console. The height of it would be about equal to a 16". This is also a cable drive shifter.
I went with the 32" nostalgia because I wasnt sure of the seat height when I ordered it. Looking back I think I'd have gone with the 23", but it's still pretty comfortable where it's at, doesn't hit the dash or the seat, and it looks cool shaking away through the windshield at idle.

You can purchase a shorter stick through Lokar if you desire.
I went with a Gennie shifter in my 52, it's a 16" one. With the gennie it's side shift so you can use any **** you want. No push button needed. It clears the dash and the 3 pod gauges.

Now that's a shifter handle. The purchase is made so I would be welding it up exactly where I wanted it and just paint it.
I don't have a picture, but I also have a 23" Nostalgia. I was worried about it fitting with the stock bench seat, but after seeing where the transmission ended up, decided to go for it. I have mocked it up and it looks like it's going to be just fine. There is a little bit of adjustment in the mounting luckily.
I am using a B&M Truck megashifter in mine. I can post up a pic of it in the truck if you like (have to find one first). It's a touch low down on the floor as opposed to these long shafter shifters, but shifts nicely. Not terribly traditional looking, but a nice strong unit. Plus, it has a ratchet system for manual change ups...great for burning guys off at the lights.
(not that I would condone such abominable behaviour!)
