I have an opportunity to pick up a 92 351W from an Exploder for almost nothing. The engine is said to need rings. Who knows what it could really need.....
Anyway, when funds become available, (like next spring) I intend to pick up a donor vehicle to get the engine, tranny, EFI wiring harness, etc. Donor would likely be something from 88 to 92. (Would not be able to afford anything newer).
So I was thinking that in the meantime, I could take this questionable 92 351W and spend the winter doing some minor porting and polishing on the heads and do a major cosmetic, external polishing on the the upper and lower intake units.
So my question is -
Is the SDI intake unit pretty much identical 88 through 92 ?
(Don't want to spend all that time on them, if it limits my donor list to a single year)
The owner of the engine is the proverbial little rich kid. What little I know of it came through my 17 yr old. I am told the motor is not the original one that came in the truck, but was installed later.
So maybe it is a 351W or maybe it's a 5.0L and the kid is just B.S.ing.......
