2004 Expedition 4.6 Crown Victoria engine swap please help !
My ride
2004 (09/2003) Expedition XLT 4.6l 2x4 RWD
Engine Romeo (according to dealer)
8th digit "W" Aluminum block
Initial problem main bearing knock
I can get cheap donor for the engine
2005 (09/2004) Crown Victoria 4.6l
Seams it also have Romeo Aluminum
8th digit "W"
My question , will it fit ?
I know intake is different and some other part
Will intake and the rest of the parts from expedition fit into victoria engine ?
If engine block has same mounting points ,cylinder heads are the same
the rest should be no problem
Did anyone do it before ?
Please HELP !
Do you by any chance have answer to one more question ?
I rolled-in few new main bearings into my 2004 Expedition
Cranckshaft did not look that bad and i decided to do "patch job"
In alldata found torque for main bearing bolts 30ft/lb and than second step 90 degrees
Which seams too much because after that i could not move the crankshaft
Googled and found 22ft/lb + 90
Released and redone 22ft/lb +90
Driven for few days , maybe 100miles
Noise came back
not all the time , sometime engine works good but sometimes it even shakes a little
Seams to me 30ft/lb+90 is for cast iron block
22lb/ft+90 is for aluminum
Could you (or anybody) verify it ?
I'm thinking to give 2nd try to "patch job" before swapping the engine
Thanks in advance

Anyone ????
I'm swapping a vic engine too, except to my Mustang. The heads/cams/internals are all the same for all 4.6L PI motors, so is the block as long as its a Romeo. And even if it ins't... my last Mustang was a 98 GT with a 99 shortblock, 04+ revision heads and a 96-98 timing cover lol.
So to answer your original question, bust the Vic motor down to the shortblock/heads and swap over your front cover, your intake, all your accessories etc... and it will drop right back in 100%.
