Anyone ever haul a 6' style side bed inside another factory 6 or 8 foot style side bed? Or should I use a flatbed or trailer? Thinking I could hang a side over the passenger side rail of my truck after protecting it with a furniture rug etc. or standing it upright... I have access to my dads flatbed trailer. also.
Like others say, flip it upside down & set in on your bed. Put some short 2" x 2" stakes in the stake pockets to keep the top bed from sliding. Use some big C clamps to hold the two beds together. Very easy!!

2x....I too would make "slugs" to index the bed in position and strap it down.

X4 on slide it fwd and then use slugs in the front stake pocket inserts and then X the straps inside the wheel well to you side tie downs. C clamps on the back edge is great idea to.
If you do end up using a trailer, espicially if it is a narrow one. Do not set it on the bed sides and strap, it can bend them. So set it on some tires to hold the sides off. Or better yet flip is on its front end and then rotate all the way over and set it on it top of the bed part.
Basically up side down, again be careful with the straps that to can bend the bed edges. 2 front to rear and that a x in the fenderwells for to be real sure.
The upside down method is great if you have a way to lift and flip. When you get home you also need a way to lift and flip of course. I have numerous times loaded a pickup box in another pickup by putting 2x4s from the bed floor on one side of the box to the opposite ,top side of the box. Your 2x4s will be on a 30 degree( or so) angle ,sideways. Slide the new box in ,strap it down and away you go. The new box will be slightly hanging OVER the angled 2x4s on the uphill side but not severely. I have actually loaded and unloaded a couple of boxes ALONE like this. (yes it's a tussle with a lot of prop it here, push it in a bit more there, rope it there, but it can be done).Just saying, as 2-3 guys easily can load and unload w/this method and no flipping. Good luck! Gary
