My 03 is at the dealer right now for trip number 3 in 45 days. First it was warped front rotors, then the spring replacement in the front diff, now, get this, my whole rear end needs replacing and they offered me a focus as a replacement. The parts are on national backorder and I leave for vacation on Friday. I am going to stop by there at lunch today and demand one of their Expy's on the lot with same equipment as a loaner. Haven't even made my first payment yet.
if they don't do it then get on the phone with customer service right in the manager's view and with your salesman knowledge of everything.........should be no problem getting you a rental equivalent to your Expy..........if not "......there's always another Ford dealer that will be glad to have your business from there on......."
in march i purchased a fully loaded 03 eddie bauer expedition. i drove it off the lot at 7 pm and i was back the next morning with a noise . the truck would make a bang noise when declarating at 20mph. didnt matter what temp the engine was at or anything. so i go back to ford and they tell me well we cant figure it out so if it gets worse come back. i go home and say this is ridiculous the truck has 26 miles on it there should be no noise. so i go back and tell them i do not want the truck back until it is fixed. well 3 weeks go by and one transmission and transfer case later the noise is still there meanwhile i had been given an explorer to use in the meantime. so finally i get intouch with the new york rep. and i am like i do not want this truck back and if you do not do anything it has been repaired 3 times for the same problem so i can sue you under the nys lemon law. well needless to say they are like well we have to have our tech look at it and try something else. i am furious at this point and have a call into a vp from for in deaborn so after i made that call i recived a phone call from the owner of my dealership stating that ford wanted to buy back my truck and give me a new one. although i came out on top because the first truck was job one and the second one is job 2 for still sucks when it comes to dealing with issues regarding their new vehicles.
Sorry to hear you guys have had bad luck with warranty issues and repairs.Maybe I got one of the good Expys,I've had 3 problems with mine, all were resolved quickly and competently by my Lincoln/Mercury dealer even though I bought an Expy. The L/M saleslady whom I've purchased 4 cars from including my old 98 Expy new I wanted an 03 Expy and recommended a Ford dealer who gave me a good deal on the new truck.Bad news was the Ford dealer, although 20 miles closer to home, has a lousey service dept. My Merc dealer did the front axle groan/vibration repair and adjusted the rear hatch window and gave me a 2003 Grand Marquis as a loaner.Later I noticed the clearcoat on all 4 wheels near the center caps was peeling, brought it in,the service manager looked at the wheels, went to parts, ordered 4 new ones and I was out the door again in less than 10 minutes. When the new wheels came in I brought it back and when they remounted the tires they balanced them using stick on weights at my request. Their service is topnotch and I always have gotten 1st class treatment by them since the first car I bought from them,it was a 6 year old used car btw.
I'll stick with these guys for ALL my service,as you know a really good service dept. is hard to find. I hope you guys can find a dealer near you who's as good as mine, try a couple of different places and see if you find one that makes you happy. It may be worth travelling some,I go 40 miles each way for service but the job gets done once and done right and I'm happy. Sorry for the length, but there are good service departments and dealers out there. If you're around Lake or Cook County, Il. and want my Mercury dealers name message me.
