Looking at 2015 6.7

Hi there, I am going to be getting a New truck in a few months and was looking at the 6.2L- 4:30 set up and starting reading on this side and was wondering if the 2015 has been revised to be more reliable with its fuel system than the 2011-2014 models. The major thing for me in getting the 6.7 is the Fuel system issues.

Thank you John

Most of the fuel issues have been operator caused, ie putting DEF in were diesel goes. and yes there were changes made in 2015 to improve engine performance.

I really think if you look at the number of 6.2 gassers vs the number of 6.7 diesels, and the number of actual failures, the ratio would not really be that much different! Just the oil burner will probably require a little more diligence as far as maintenance is concerned, and with a diesel, you always want to make sure to keep water drained off fuel filters, and change the filters regularly. This is true of any diesel, not just Ford.

If you can live with the 6.2L- 4:30 set up and it accomplishes what you need from a truck, save the $8,000+ the 6.7L costs and buy the 6.2L.

John, the only thing I'd offer, in counter to Bruce's thoughts, is that the resale value on the diesel is substantially higher than an equivalent gasser....if that's a factor for you to consider.

If you're planning on keeping the truck for forever, and the 6.2 will do what you want, then gopherit

Yep as stated above and before the fuel system is/was already reliable. The majority of the fuel pumps failing is either DEF or bad fuel. You could look for like a 2013 that is just barely used and you'll get close to what you would pay for a new gasser.
