Crusie Control
Another one for ya!
My cruise no worky! I checked the fuse that's about it.
Anybody had dealings with the cruise/speed control system? I think it's electro???
What are some of the commons?
It's a 85 f150 302/AOD
I suspect the previous owner disconnected something when he took out the auxillary battery that was located right close to the solenoid.
My emission light remains on. I was wondering if the PCM goes to "limp in" if the light is on, thereby de-comissioning the cruise. There was a recall for the emis. light that was never attended to. Maybe that's related to the cruise???
You guys rock!

There's a large vacuum hose that runs from the intake, behind the L hood hinge, and to the servo, and another similar hose that runs from the servo thru the firewall (beside the accelerator cable) to a vacuum switch on the brake pedal. Make sure those lines are present & not leaking.
The cruise module is mounted inside the front of the dash above the gas pedal, so make sure both of its connectors are plugged in, and that the harness runs to the steering column connectors. The same harness also runs out with the brake switch vacuum line to the servo, and to the VSS which could be a disk in the speedo cable, or a small device where the cable enters the transmission/t-case tailhousing. Make sure everything is plugged in and that the wires are intact. The diagrams in the back of the Haynes manual will help you check everything.
The emissions light has no effect on the cruise.
That aux battery is really convenient, so if you're not going to hook it back up, pull it and sell it here in the classifieds or on eBay.
