Congrat's on your new ride. Love my 6.0 and with the standard maintenance, coolant filter, and a little luck, you should love your's too.

Gotta laugh as the question you ask...after you made the purchase.

Keep an eye on the EOT's vs the ECT's and you can minimize major oil cooler issues.

Enjoy.

i knew from being these forums about the 6.0s. it just wasnt really sure the extent of the little quirks these motors have.

one of my stipulations on buying the truck was that the dealer pay for the "bullet proofing" of the motor. They agreed to 50% of it and I cover the other 50. which i dont mind. just wanted the input the folks here.

You guys were very helpful on making my Excursion ownership experience awesome

I think the single most important thing when you're going to have work done is to be certain it gets done by a shop/tech that is well experienced with 6.0's.

roger that. just point me in the right direction! hehe..

the truck runs awesome. low miles (84k). from the carfax they gave it looks like regular maintenance were done at the correct intervals. I just want to have that peace of mind of ownership.

I'm sure everyone has their favorite shop.

I have used Advanced Diesel here in San Pedro.

Mike the owner, as an ex Ford dealer mechanic has helped when I had a unison ring issue with the turbo.

I felt he was very trustworthy and did what he committed to at a reasonable price.

Also re-programmed my ecu with updates for no extra charge.

got myself a ScanGuage II and programmed it with the recommended settings. So far everything is within specs as far as Engine vitals.

EOT and ECT is within about +/-5 degrees of each other.

That's good. Have you checked it cruising at freeway speed with the motor fully warmed up?
