"Better" is such a relative term. You can go to the dealer and buy COPs for $80 each, or you can buy a 'set of 8' off eBay for $46.98 total including shipping.
Do I think the dealer ones are over 13X better than the eBay ones? Nope.
Would I buy the dealer ones? Nope.
Would I buy the eBay ones? Yup.
Have I bought and installed the eBay ones? Yup.
Careful installation of a COP might have more to do with its performance than who sold it. Dielectric grease properly applied to COP boots lubricates, seals and electrically insulates. I'd wager there's more inconsistency with dielectric grease use than with the quality of the ignition coil.
I also bought the V10 set on ebay. Spares are untouched.
is there any particular set of coils that are better for my truck?
Not sure you need to invest and changeout all 8?
I replace only when necessary. I've changeout 2 in 310k plus miles and only 1 went bad. The other was in the #4 cylinder and didn't want to have to get back there again soon.
It's not a bad idea to carry spares and your OBD testor to identify bad cylinder, as others noted.
