Rangers packaged and marketed to the "cost conscious" buyers (pizza and auto parts delivery, for example) could be had with standard windows all the way to the end, which would be 2011. The XL has always been a very bare bones stripper, a plain, value menu model designed to deliver a light duty truck at a very low cost. I do seem to recall that people who bought XL's were able to indulge in am/fm radio, but CD was an extra cost luxury. Vinyl seats = standard equipment.
By golly, you're right. I pulled my 2008 Ranger brochure and there it was - the XL had manual windows as standard equipment. I wonder why the Ford Factory Service Manual didn't have any info on manual windows?
Because nobody but us dinosaurs want crank windows. Ford probably doesn't install more than 2000 a year. Design hasn't changed since new body style and if you keep them clean/ lubed they last {forever}
If you want 'em and a manual trans also, gonna have to be special ordered.
So, I guess I'm a dinosaur. I'm starting to look around for a replacement for my '94 Ranger that's is beginning to show some signs of age. I would like for it to be a later model Ranger, but I also like simple, like the manual windows and a straight shift. It's good to hear (from your responses) that I may be able to find one. Thanks again.
Another dinosaur here. Never looked for a choice in windows but all but one I've had were manual.
(2) '98's (3) 2000, (1) 2001, (2) 2005 all were manuals windows and all XLT's and half manual trans.

I guess I am not only a dinosaur, but a cheap one too! I have a 2010 Ranger XL regular cab, 2wd, with a 2.3L 4 cylinder with a 5 speed manual, and it has manual windows. Since I wanted a few options (A/C, cloth seats, AM/FM/CD/Sirius sattelite stereo), and did not want a white truck, I had to place a factory order, and wait 6 weeks for my truck to arrive, but it was worth it, since I got exactly the truck I wanted, and after over 4 years as my daily driver, I wouldn`t change a thing about my truck.I know it won`t tow much, but I had a couple of F350s for the heavy stuff.
Mine is a 92 and has electric windows, i don't like them cause my window goes up slow and sometimes i have to push on it to help it. I mean how hard is it for people to crank a window.
