Need a driveshaft. 68 swb 2wd

I'm in the process of converting my long wheelbase truck to a shortie. (I'm documenting everything for a future post.) The driveshaft on the short wheelbase truck is completely different from the original lwb set up so I need a complete driveshaft. No luck at the wreckers around here and I haven't seen one on ebay. If anyone has one to sell or knows where I can get one I'd appreciate it. Otherwise my only option is a custom build but I don't want to spend too much because in the future I will be replacing the drivetrain.

I'd bet you'd still spend about $200 buying one with shipping for a used one.
So, I'd say just have yours re-tubed. But when changing thing around the way you want theirs always a waste of money.

Or wait to drive it and put your money into it "once" into rear drive axle your want too end up with.
Reworking a Classic vehicle is like an endless pit for money..

Retube won't work. The long wheelbase set up is a two driveshaft with a hanger that is small diameter so retube is not an option. The short wheelbase driveshaft is a single bigger diameter one.
Phase two is going to be one year, maybe two down the road so I'd like to start driving it this spring with it's original drivetrain.

Hmm well ok so it seems all you would need is the 1310/1330 u-joint on both ends. This would allow you to use a small/large yoke or tube end piece.

This is how you adapt one size too another be it yoke or the tube..

Does the end of the trans have a u joint coupling or does it take a slip in driveshaft? My point is the driveshaft has to slip somewhere. In your 2 piece it slips in the middle, at least mine does.

In this picture it's the top one. As you can see there is no slip yoke at the tranny. It has a slip spline in the driveshaft itself. Tomorrow I'll attempt to get a measurement but I'll have to move some snow.

EDIT: Okay I measured the current long wheelbase two shaft and hanger set up. It's approx. 78.5" form the center of the frontmost ujoint cup the the center of the rear ujoint cup. Subtract 16" for what will be cut out of the frame and that gives approx. 62.5". The current set up doesn't have the 4 bolt flange bolted to the tranny tailshaft so I will need that too. (it has a yoke bolted to tailshaft)

You don't actually need that 4 bolt flange. My '70 doesn't have it. It just has the yoke on the transmission like what I assume you already have.

Just have one made from your existing driveshaft. I had a driveshaft company make a one piece shaft with a slip in it using my og 3 piece shaft for under 200 dollars. And that's in southern California so it should be cheaper where you are.

that is mis-information. they are all different, if he has a flat flange on the tranny he needs the flat flange on the shaft.

PS; Murray, I emailed you, I couldn't find the shaft. Sorry.

PPS; Mkoch96 I think you might be right after reading what he edited on the picture post, I think he gave us the wrong picture, so he's gonna need a custom shaft anyway.
