I have a hole in my muffler and half a tailpipe so I think it's about time I replaced my exhaust system. I am looking for a good sound, but most of all, I am looking for the best performance. I was just planning on replacing the muffler back so I am going to keep the cat... for now . I am just wondering what has worked for everyone else so I have an idea of what brand(s) to look at when I go shopping.
I'm happier that a pig in uknow....... With my new setup! I cut the old pipe just before the 2 in 1 out cat so that leaves you with 2 bare pipes. For the upper I went straight out just like the original. For the lower I made a 90 deg turn and then went up over the crossmember. At equal spots on the other side of the crossmember is where I installed the round high flow Vibrant cats and then immediately after I installed the Flowmaster 40 series. Then I used 2 factory tailpipes to go over the differential and added a little more 2 and a quarter pipe to go straight out the rear.
My truck now has the classic draggin Mustang sound.
Its really a joy to drive.
I'm showing my ignorance here and almost hate to ask, but I have been following this thread and trying to learn as you folks discuss this exhaust system issue and I do not know what "cats" means as in "stock cats". I am guessing it refers to the catalytic converter but I could very well be wrong......HELP!
