Vin decode 1974 F600..and an engine swap suggestion please
I am looking to vin decode my 1974 f600 #F60DVT00014.
I just got it on a trade. It was one of the orginal Peterson CAT service trucks, service body, air ride seat. Its undergoing a full refurbishment. The service body has been used hard so it will be coming off for a full sandblast and repair.
The 330 is a good runner but anemic and a total gas hog. I believe it has a NP435 , granny low,, reverse over and up, but I still am removing grease from the undercarraige and havent found any tags yet. I also was given a intl/ford 6.9 bellhousing and was told it was a bolt up and that the 6.9 could swap right in... does anyone know more about this.. and has anyone done it? I dont need a puller.. I just want a solid f600 with a decent mileage engine.. and even the 6.9 will be a huge improvement over the 330
I was under the impression that several of the f 600 transmissions 73-79 can accept the 6.9 bellhousing.. and that the 6.9 international engine mount will bolt up to the front crossmember
Ill post in the swap section
Bill.... where is that beautiful 3 poound universe of yours that can decode my vin....
I am in the same boat. I have a 73 F600 with some sort of 5 speed and what I believe to be a 361. I would like to swap in 6.9/7.3 IDI so what do I need as far as a bellhousing ? I am not concerned about anything else. I have a welder, a torch and a cooler full of beer.
