NEED HELP FAST - Replacement Plugs for 98 5.4L Expd
Well, I had the #4 spark plug on the passenger-side pop out last evening, argghhh! I have read about the heli-coil temporary fix to this head issue. Here's my dilemma! I can't get the factory Motorcraft plugs with the heli-coil to re-seat in the cylinder head. There doesn't seem to be enough threads on the Motorcraft plug to seat with the heli-coil. What to do?
So, are their better replacement plugs with more threads to re-seat #4 without damaging the cylinder. Do the Bosch's Platinum Plus 4's have more threads than the Motorcraft? Otherwise, are their other plugs available? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Derek

Oh yeah, you will definitely know when that spark plug comes out of that JUNK aluminum cylinder head. It makes a HUGE banging noise, which is then followed by a CHUG-CHUG. The noise is barely tolerable!

Just about all aftermarket plugs will have more threads than the motorcraft which only has 6 threads. 6 threads is enough considering the plug only screws in 4 1/2 turns. Why ford didnt have the head machined with more threads is beyond me. No wonder plugs are being blown out with the threads and all. When i changed my plugs at 72,000, you can see surface rust on the first 4 threads upon removal.
