SD card slot in my 2013 F150 L

I recently went to New Orleans in a new Explorer that had the 5 " touch screen with the navigation. I was reading the manual on this and it was talking about the SD card in the slot for this. I noticed yesterday that my F150 has a SD slot. My truck does not have the navigation( I think) What is this slot for? recorded songs etc.?

You can load music on the SD card and play it through the radio. Aftermarket radios have been doing this for years.
