Anyone Ever Disassemble A Steering Box?
EDIT: Disregard this. On closer inspection, the drive shaft for the steering box is broken, not the pitman arm. Guess I'll just swap the whole works!
Hey all, got a bit of an issue here:
I've got a 99 F150, 2WD, and, among other things, the pitman arm is broken. Unfortunately it's broken where it connects to the steering box, right about where you'd clamp down the arms of a pitman puller.
So I'm thinking: Remove the steering box from the truck, then
Anyone ever lay eyes on the insides of one of these? Saw a rebuild thread on here for the 87-96 steering boxes, and it seems like if I got in there I could press the broken piece out, but I'm not sure about the difference between those boxes and the one in my truck.
Any comments/suggestions appreciated. Got a feeling I can prevent a lot of this:
