Gmorning folks i got up this am to go into town and tried to start my truck to no avail .All she does is turn over and kinda lope .First couple cranks seem normalalmost fires then nuthing .Its trowing 3 codes p119,p1316,p1211.also i just had the wiring harness under the valve cover reclipped but even then it ran under half power .Oil is ok close to change but still at 3000k also there is a little oil in the valley too any suggestion?
I don't see P119. P1119 is MAT sensor high input, P1316 is Injector circuit/IDM codes detected, and P1211 is ICP not controllable. Start by checking tin nut on back of IPR and make sure connectors on UVCH got plugged back in correctly.
the tin nut is ok and sorry it is p1119 code .oil is from turbo leak it appears but its been there for a while .i crossed the glow plug relay too to no avail too.howmuch work is it to take valve covers off and is there any special tools i shud get before i start this so im not running around looking for stuff.thanks
As stated, check the wiring going to the VC gaskets and the wiring from them going to the injectors. You will have to remove the IC pipes to get the VC's off. It is not a very hard job at all, just takes some patience with a few of the VC bolts.
i had cleared codes and they came back earlier .got the vc off there was a fair amount of oil all over.also there was oil in the pipes too uggh.the wiring harness seemed loose is there suppose to be a clip on there it just seemed to be snapped in .i started by working on drivers side since ford judt did passenger side

If you're talking about the clip under the VC search for "50 cent mod". It will cost you a couple of quarters, but will keep those clips nice and tight. Be sure and check the connections again for burnt pins, etc. As for oil in the IC pipes there is a mod for that too.

Reason: Missed the part about Ford house doing UVCH
K clips done in uvch even changed out cps and charged batteries. It tries to fire and at first there is black smoke when starting if we keep going it turns grey after 10 seconds. Hoping its not an IDM like the tech at ford said it might be any suggestions ?oh and if I take idm out can ford test it ?
K update I went back cleared code and attempted to start. BAM fired up ran great for a couple minutes then started running on 4 cylinders. I checked the passenger side by disconnecting harness to uvch in top and no diff. Prob is ford just fixed that side a month ago ??
Check harness for chaffing. Try to wiggle that PS harness and see if you can get it to run better or worse. From what I understand IDMs don't go out that often unless they get wet or you mod them. Not sure if Ford can test it. You don't happen to have a buddy with the same year truck you can swap IDMs with do you?
An 01 if it works. And I tried wiggling the connection no change. But can just clearing the codes help that much after I clipped drivers side. I figured passenger side wud be good considering just got done.
Clearing codes will not help it run better. Are you saying you did not pull the PS and check the connection under the VC? If you did not, that is most likely your problem. Ford came up with clips for this issue but I have read that they do not always work well. If you have not done so you need to remove the PS VC, check for burnt pins, etc, and put the quarter in there after removing the clip IF the stealer happened to put one in. Make sure none of the injector or GP leads are rubbing on anything while you're in there. UVCH is a PITA that comes with these trucks but the 50 cent mod almost always solves the issue.
Another thing would be to look at your invoice and see exactly what they replaced. If they only did the VC gasket you may have a bad pigtail. IIRC Clay has them on his site. First off pull the pass side and make sure it's seated. If you pulled the plug with no change then you just found what side is acting up.
Question I don't think the 50 cent mod can work on this unit I think I they replaced it all 2 years ago I remamber them making fun of quarters when they redid injector o rings ??
