Ford Flathead V8 Throttle Up Issue

Greetings All....Just completed the restoration of my 1940 Ford Pickup. The engine was recently rebuilt and ran great. (221 cid 85 hp) For the restoration the only thing that changed on the engine was new points, plugs, and an Edelbrock intake with dual Holley 94's. It starts up and purrs at idle...as soon as you try and accelerate it sputters horribly and dies. You can nurse the gas and get it to idle up some but sputters and coughs. I did switch to a 12 volt system also. Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It could be the carbs not getting enough gas, or adjusted wrong, and did you put a resistor in the wire between the switch and coil?
