Newbie just jumped into the 6.7L deep-end...

Take delivery of a new 2013 F250 CC, 6.7L. I have a couple of co-workers running 2011-2012 with the SCR/DPF delete and tunes, and are getting unreal economy (25mpg+). I use the truck as a daily driver, lots of highway km, Don't tow alot, do haul and delivery payload in the spring time (liquid fertilizer). Carry an atv or snowmobile around through the rest of the year.

What changes make the biggest improvement on fuel economy? I have found a reasonably priced Minimaxx capable of the dpf delete tune, was planning to do the tune and full delete. My question is will the tune support the 2013 yet? Any changes to the 2013 from the 11 and 12's? Any recommendations on intakes and exhausts? Or do the intakes flow well enough?

Any advise or recommendations is appreciated. Thanks.

No, tuning companies havent released tunes for 2013s yet. The 2011 and 2012 are not compatible with them yet

Don't get the mini maxx. H&S won't be adding the delete programming for the 13 power stroke to the off road tuners

If no H&S support for the 13 engine on the off-road Mini-Maxx... what's the alternative?

I don't want to leave it stock. I want rid of the EPA crap, which cannot be lawfully enforced in the great redneck republic of Alberta.

Haven't taken delivery of the new 2013 Ford yet... maybe should buy the 2012 RAM Cummins 6.7 instead, that does not have SCR (yet), and the DPF delete is simple and the MiniMaxx will work on it.

Maybe I will call H&S in the morning and get the skinny from them.

Again..live it stock till the new mileage warranty runs out...3/36,000 here in the states.

Co-workers that have done the delete/tune on their 11-12's are getting substantially better fuel economy. Not 10-15%, more like 20-30%. That reason alone would be worth it, not to mention the urea issues in the winter, and the failing sensors associated with the scr system.

The last friend who did his delete/tune was thinking the same as you... leave it stock until his 3 year/60,000km warranty runs out. But when it hit -30C here, his truck ran a continual CEL, derated itself several times, and after being in the Ford Dealership 6 times for sensor and electrical work, he finally "had enough", deleted the SCR and put a 4" exhaust and Minimaxx off-road tune in. Now 3 weeks later not one CEL, no sensor issues (bulk of them are on the old SCR rocket launcher that was removed and now sitting on his garage floor) and his fuel mileage has gone from 14mpg to 23mpg. Substantial to say the least. And thats with cold winter weather, and crappy winter diesel. He is pumped.

This is why I wanted to do the same to a 2013. Maybe I should be considering the 2012's that are still available.

Your gamble..the engines are solid....but ANYTHING big goes wrong it's your bill. Would and could cost more than the dollars you would save in mpg.

Why not wait to see if a cel would come on...then if there s a problem, remove the EPA stuff.

Ether way.

Good luck.

Haha that's the spirit. I'm also getting lots of peer pressure to get my truck emissions deleted.

Spartan is an option in Canada for '11 & '12s, but they aren't out for '13s. It's going to be a little while before those are available for '13s due to the new computers from Ford.

Good luck finding a delete kit for ANY of the 2011-2012's Regardless of Ford or Dodge. They have stopped making them and the distribution channel is just about sold out. And if you do find one, Retailers think they are made of gold now.

Your only option up north is Spartan.

Mine is still stock, Spent last winter at -25° and never had a CEL. And it was parked outside with not plug in.
My truck routinely gets 18 to 18.5 mpg at 80 mph on interstate drives And if I slow down and drive 65 mph I can bump that up over the 20 mpg. So I really don't believe your buddies delete kits did that much for their fuel mileage. Now if they went from 14 mpg in town driving to 24 mpg in town. That's a substantial jump. But I'm going to be skeptical on that.

You can see my fuelly avg below. I run around 14 mpg for my 78,000 mile average. But that includes a LOT of towing.
