No Power and heats up

I have a 1990 Bronco with a 5.8L motor. It runs pretty good with no idle problems. The problem I'm having is when I go up an incline it has hardly any power at all, barely climbs the hills. It will also heat up when climbing. The engine uns normal except when climbing a hill. I recently had the tranny replaced and it has been checked since it works fine. Any suggestions?

No Power and heats up

Check the timing and make sure it's set correctly.

i second the timing issue but it could also be a restricted exhaust.do you have any pinging while climbing the hill?also did this just start happening all of a sudden or has it gradually started?do you notice if your trans downshifts when you start to pull the hill, if not you will be lugging it and that also generates a lot of heat.let us khow how you make out

I will check the timing, also is just started overheating. Also the power problem has been pretty recent also. No pinging noise at all and the tranny does downshift when pulling the hill...

No Power and heats up

Well I adjusted the timing and had the exhaust checked and it was ok. The Bronco ran better and didn't heat up, I also found out that there is too much heat going to the cat, I did change the EGR it wasn't opening all the way. I pulled the codes which gave me 33, 62. After the EGR was changed my check engine light came on. After pulling the codes once again I had a 31. I changed the EVP sensor and there was no change in the check engine light. It doesn't heat up on an incline but has a loss of power again. Any ideas guys??? I'm stuck.

just curious, what size tires are you runnin. also, have you recently done a tune up , that wouldnt hurt to try that and also might think about replaceing the fuel filter . its on the frame under the driver side if its clogging at all it could cause you to not get enough fuel. might also do a compression test

good luck
