If you don't have any codes in your computer it is probably one or more bad injectors. The early injectors (before 99.5 model year) were prone to galling between the barrel and sleeve.
Thanks Joe, I have a couple more questions if you don't mind... The dealer changed the processor because it was not giving any information to the scan tool. Even after replacing the processor it still does not give any information -- ERROR -- is all any scan tool is picking up.
One shop said the "check engine" light should stay on until the engine starts, and it is only coming on for a split second and not staying on until the engine starts. They said I probably have a wiring problem, but it may be unrelated to the engine problem.
Injector? Is there any way to check these without pulling them out?
Sounds like there is something wrong with their scan tool.
Their scan tool should have a program to do a cylinder contribution test but this test is done with the engine running under a no load condition, so unless there are one or more cylinders that are contributing significantly less than the others, it will show OK (they could be all contributing about the same but not enough when the engine is trying to make power).
