Upate on radiator puking coolant 6.8 V-10 (4th cap).
I just got back from O'Reillys auto parts store. I had a problem with coolant not staying in and the engine going into limp mode but they loaned a radiator pressure and cap tester and the third cap wasn't holding pressure so I tested the other 2 and same thing. I took the cap and tester down there and 3 guys at the counter looked on while I showed them it was not holding pressure and they all said " it got to 16 pounds so it's good." When I asked to test a new one they all took off but one and the new one did hold pressure and the overflow tank pressure held at 16# also. So hopefully I am back in business with my 4th cap (they gave it to me).
Holy crap! Seriously? Is this something I should worry about with my V10, too, or do you think this was kind of a one-off deal?
Say, Weren't you recently posting about how to do radiator/coolant flushes? Wonder if the problem is related or exacerbated by the flushing procedure. Hmm...just thinking out loud here. Hope I didn't ramble too much.
What are your thoughts, Brent? ( at least the ones that don't involve swearing!)
That's interesting. My dad took his T-bird to the dealer finally to have some issues looked at, because he didn't know what to do. The car just started puking coolant after he'd get home from work, as well as when he got to work in the morning. The HVAC system isn't working right all of the sudden either, because it just works at the two extremes of hot and cold.
The dealer replaced the blend door motors and also put a new bottle cap on. They said the old cap was only holding like 6 psi. Well, got the car back and a couple days later, it puked again and the HVAC issue was still present. So after a bad survey/review, they wanted the car back and assure it will be fixed on their dime this time. They also provided a free 2011 Fusion loaner for as long as it takes to get it fixed.
The dealer called today with an update. The tech on it spent all day on the phone with Ford tech support and both parties are now scratching their heads. But they assured us, they WILL get it fixed...
Could either or both of you specify what you mean by "puking" coolant? Do you just mean to say that it's overheating and the coolant is spraying out with steam? Or...something else?
Not being difficult, just trying to understand the phenomenon you are describing...?

Oh no worries, but I don't know a whole lot since I haven't been involved in it.
How it gets to the ground, I don't know. Once he backs the car out of the garage, there's a nice little puddle on the floor. Kinda looks like the car relieved itself:
Before it ever went to the dealer and it did this, my dad found a plastic fitting on the upper rad hose cracked. Just had a small hairline split in it. He replaced that and all seemed well for like a week or so. Then it started doing it again.
Dealer first thought it was an air bubble in the system and it would just work itself out after draining and refilling. Personally, I think the system has a clog in it somewhere and the two issues are tied together, but what to I know
I believe they are replacing the digital heater control thing too (that you adjust the temp/fan on) this time around, just to eliminate that from the system. I'm glad I didn't go order that online a couple weeks ago!

It was me that posted the "Crystal clear radiator flush" thread and it all went very well but it was prompted by the trouble I was having. The problem was there before and after the flush. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post12259975

It was spilling out of the overflow tank cap ("radiator cap"). There was no steam involved and it never got hot. I recommend to anyone that looses water out of the cap to buy one from an auto supply store that loans cap testers (like O'Reillys) and test the new one there or at least test your old one there. I would have gone on to replace more parts if I never discovered the bad caps. Who would ever think 3 caps in a row wouldn't hold pressure? They would get up to 16 pounds and then quickly start losing pressure. The forth cap actually didn't fit on the tank (but tested good), and the fifth one was a winner. The girl that worked there said "we don't have the best supplier of caps and stats".

Nothing like stating the obvious.
Makes one wonder about the quality of their other parts.

At least you finally go it solved.
She was the most honest person in there, she even said to look online for shocks since they were out of what I wanted. I just wonder why they don't dump that supplier.
