I have a GREAT old F600 flatbed dump. Runs great but the cab is shot -- rusted out. Can someone tell me what cab from other years would fit this truck so I can replace it?
Ah, another fellow '600! I have a '64 250 and will be taking possession of a '66 600 that I bought last week. From what pics I've seen, it appears that the '66 600 cab is the same as the '64 with the exception of the fenders. In other words, the step-up wells which I believe were present on '61-64 F350s' and lower were discontinued in '65 and '66 250's and lower BUT they apparently are still there on the '600's. I'll send you pics if you need (I think I have pics on both). Obviously, the front fenders are different on the 600's v. the pickups.
While I've got you, what engine do you have in yours? I'm told I have a 359 in mine. I have a not-so-great pic of it and that's all I know. I am trying to figure out where to get parts for this beast.
I'm not sure how much this helps, but it's all I know for now. I hope to know much more in the next few months.
I have a 292 4 speed. I would post a picture but don't see any capability here (maybe drag & drop?). It's not real pretty anyway. Would be happy to see your pics. I'm just south of you, east of Binghamton.
Small world! I'm at SUNY Binghamton. My truck isn't pretty, either, but here it is (I just got it last week outside of eBay because the seller was apparently taking offers on it that included all sorts of stuff, so I offered cash and a clean deal). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2414142899
In terms of yards, I have been to Demos (outside of the Churchville, NY area....not terribly far from I90, exit 47, rte. 490). It's been awhile since I've been to Demos, but I ran into a guy in Rochester this past weekend who had a F600. Did I get his name?? No, I am stupid like that and I'm still kicking myself.
Anyway, he evidently got some stuff (wheels I know for sure) there and if Demos is now like it was before, they don't crush anything. Demos is primarily focused on MD/HD trucks. They do have some light truck stuff there, but not much. Our kind of place!
I'll probably be going there within the next 3 weeks. I can report on what I find if you want.
Ya, I saw your "Ferndale Ford" -- great price but I figured it was too far away for me to mess with.
I know I might not find a decent cab for my '64 so I've been looking at F600s as new as '90 (with dump hydraulics only) on eBay and seeing some good deals -- most too far away from the "Southern Tier."
Meanwhile, anything you find out there that you can put me onto is appreciated.
We can do this...I'm at bg18132@binghamton.edu Email me, ok?
How do you insure this beast???????? It got down to the bottom of the 9th with 2 strikes on me before I got something and my driving record is as clean as clean can be. They didn't like the vehicle. At all.
