Exactly why I keep *****ing about cars that have 300+ horse and are "legal" on the roads...
IMPO, 300+ is meant for test facilities, the Autoban, and the track...
I'm not against Ford building these awesome machines... I'm against whoever MAY have been in the passenger seat of that car and how the idiot who drove the car would have been out of jail in 10 years for taking a life...

An idiot could make a pretzel of a smart car. This has very little to do with big horse power, but largely to do with small/no brains.
i had the same kinda thing happen when i was buying my 95 stang, I originally was dealing on a 2001 cobra. some 16 something kid took it for a test drive after i "finalized" the paperwork but before it was legally mine. he wrote it off and the mustang i bought was the next best one on the lot that wasnt brand new

I highly disagree with your statement about horsepower. However, I do agree with your no brains statement.
If you give an idiot an inch, he'll take a mile... Give an idiot a car that can do 200+ mph, he'll surely try it at one point in time. Give that same idiot a car that can only do 90 mph and he'll probably still try to max it out even though it's a lot less speed... but the iminent danger he poses while doing 90 mph compared to 200 mph on the road drastically changes.
Ever watch the SGI commercials where they show how much slower a car stops going just 5 kms over the speed limit and then compare it to a car that is going EXACTLY the speed limit?
The difference was something around 10 feet at 50 km/hr... apply that to much higher speeds and you prove my arguement that higher horsepower = higher potential speed = higher risks of idiots = higher risk of deaths/danger.
You take away the horsepower and thusly take away the high speeds. Of course that's an over simplification, but horsepower drives a lot of what's put into the vehicle so it can handle the desired power and torque.
There are individuals out there like Chris (effie) that I would trust with a 500+ horsepower vehicle on any open road. Unfortunately, not everyone out there is as trustworthy as Chris...
