This may be a stupid question but here goes anyway

I've been told that the dana 50 uses the same housing as the 60. It looks the same to me. Does anyone know what size the main bearings are on a 50 carrier? Would it be possible to put a 60 carrier and inner axle's in a 50 housing and use the stock outer axles and hubs and such. I believe the 50 uses the same axle u-joints as the 60 so the new inners would hook right up to the outers

Just a crazy and probably dumb thought but oh well

 

I can't answer for sure... But I was told the same thing. I was looking for aftermarket aluminum differential covers for my eXcursion with the dana 50 front. I could not find any for the dana 50 anywhere. I called ORU and they told me the dana 50 and 60 housings were the same and sent me the covers. It fits perfectly.

 

Does anyone know if my '00 4x4 F350 has a Dana 50 or 60 up front? I think Monsta said the 4x4's have a 60 but can't remember.
