Out of gas early
i have had this truck for about a year and recently, (2 months ago) i ran out of gas while the gauge reads about 1/16th tank left. Usually i get 450-500 miles per tank but it died after 404 on a one day trip all highway on I-10. Has happened about 5 times since then to where i can feel it shudder but havent let it die before i got to a gas station again
normally i put around 28-29 gallons to top it off from empty, but since this happened i noticed 24-26 will top it off
has this happend to you? whats the problem/fix?

If you have a 6.0 diesel you are playing russian roulette with your injectors letting it get down to where the engine shutters. These injectors are expensive and unforgiving. As stated above, what's the maint. record on the filters and always, always use OEM filters. No, No A/M's.

I am going to assume you have a diesel. I get 30 gals in mine if I am close to empty since I did the harpoon mod. It is easily found on the site with the search. It will let you get 2-5 gals more in the tank. Occasionally it has caused a massive diesel mess when I wasn't paying attention at a truck stop (it really allows filling to the top of the tank).
Search "harpoon fuel tank" on the 6.0l site - excellent pictures. Took about 2 hours for an amateur (me).
Overall I won't cut it so close with the fill-ups - running it to empty is a great way to end up replacing injectors
